Moore Traditional Middle School opened in part of the Moore High School facility in 1998. Like Moore High, Moore Middle was named for Marion C. Moore, one of the four original counselors in the Jefferson County schools (county district) and a former teacher and principal. Opening Moore Middle returned the seventh and eighth grades to the Moore facility, since the high school once included them. Moore Middle also offered the sixth grade. Moore Middle and Moore High were combined administratively in 2003. In 2005 they were merged into Moore Traditional School. The Board of Education changed the school's name to Marion C. Moore School in 2017.
